Hi Everyone!

Hi, everyone! Sorry I’m just now writing this update! Our life has just been pretty busy, stressful, tearful and yet happy. We try to take one day at a time and try to remember that even if that day seems to be horrible there’s always the next to start over. This chemo is so extremely hard on poor little Koen’s body that everyday is a pretty tough day for him.

This past weekend Koen had two of his BEST days he’s had in a long time. My guess is it had something to do with the fact that he hasn’t had the really hard chemo (cisplatin) for four weeks now. He was just so HAPPY and you could tell he was having no pain! Seeing this side of him again really makes me anxious for December 14th. Lord willing this will be Koen’s last treatment date!

As all of you know Koen along with all of us caught the swine flu. Gavin, Kaitin and I had it first and then Koen. I didn’t know it was the swine flu, as it didn’t really seem like flu. But I guess this whole swine flu stuff can be pretty nuts. Koen did end up in the hospital for 3 days with it and it has push back Koen’s chemo schedule. But he did fight it pretty well considering! They said the swine flu last from a week to two weeks; Koen only had it 5 days. Which brings me to a huge prayer request! I need the prayer, for me to have patience with some of the nurses. Some of them just can be such a huge pain! This one night he had this nurse that thought he just had to keep his pulse ox on all the time even though the nurse the night before didn’t care that he did. So she was at least in our room 10 times in a 12-hour shift to search for and find his pulse ox and put it back on. This drove me nuts cause we both got woke up every time, I finally told her at 4:30 in the morning that if he takes it off DO NOT put it back. Then the next day they all wondered why Koen slept the day away! It’s so frustrating and I’m trying so hard to find patience with them. But it is EXTREMELY HARD!

Koen will be admitted for his round 4 of chemo tomorrow (Thursday). This is so Bitter Sweet, As this means he’s not going to be feeling very well at all again with all the side affects. Also means we have to spend 3 days in the hospital again! Please keep all of in us in your prayers! But the sweet part is this means after round 4 he will have his surgery to remove the tumor. This also means only two more rounds of chemo! We are so looking forward to the day Koen is cancer free and has fought this battle and WON! Without God’s strength I don’t know how we would have made it though! I do not want to imagine this fight without him fighting along beside us!

Thank you all for the prayers! Please keep them coming!

3 Brothers and the Swine Flu :(
