Thank You!

I just wanted to THANK all of you for your support in these last 6 months from prayers to donations. If it wasn't for all of you it would have even been a harder 6 months than it was. We are GRATEFUL to have such an amazing support team for our little man. Thank you!

On another note: Koen is doing really well and you can tell with each day he gets stronger, happier, eating better and just all together better! It is so funny to me how happy it makes me to just see him want to eat a 1/4 of a grilled cheese :) This weekend were all going to my parents to spend New Years and celebrate Christmas with all of them. Praying it won't wear Koen down too much. Hope you all have a GREAT New Years and can reflect on your 09' and decade and see how your life has changed or how amazingly blessed you are. You never know what tomorrow might hold! But just live it to the fullest and know whether good or bad you'll be stronger in the end.
Happy New Year!

Last Chemo Treatment!!

Today Koen is getting his last chemo treatment! It's amazing to look back and see how far he has come months ago when Koen was in the PICU the uncertainty was so great we couldn't even imagine reaching this day. It brings tears to my eyes and indescribable joy to my heat to be able to say these words, "We beat this Koen, we beat this!" Congratulations buddy! Daddy loves you!

The Power of Prayer!

First I want to thank you all for praying for Koen over the past week. Koen was able to come home yesterday. We feel so blessed that we will all be able to spend Christmas together. Koen did get put on three new medicines this time. The reason we were admitted was because his body was losing potassium and magnesium. They had to replace them through IV his counts also dropped all the way down to 21. This was all causing him to be really sick, throwing up, diarrhea, fever and no energy at all. He literally slept for 3 days straight and only woke up if he needed his diaper changed. Kids are so AMAZING though because when they make that turn around they make it fast and look so much better just overnight. He was sent home on potassium and magnesium oral replacement. I'm praying he doesn't have to be on these long as they decided to keep Koen off his NG tube to see if it helps him want to eat more on his own. For all I hate the NG tube for I LOVE it when it came time to give him his meds (although not Tylenol, LOL) So thank you everyone for your prayers and I hope all have a Wonderful Christmas!

I also have another little boy I would like to ask you all to pray for. His name is Jonathan he's had cancer for 6 years and the doctors are concerned it could have spread to his brain. But we all know our GOD is mighty and able to heal. I pray the mass on Jonathan's brain will go away and they will not have to do a biopsy to find out if its cancer or not. I also pray for Jonathan to be completely healed and be cancer free and live a long, happy life. Please stand with me in prayers for this!

God touched him and his family yesterday and I was able to be involved in it and witness the prayer of God. Let me tell you a little about it. Yesterday was the anniversary of 6 years of Jonathan being diagnosed with cancer and it was just a hard day for him and his family. His Mama was having a really hard time with it and just couldn't handle anything more that day. But Satan tried to make it even worse when the doctors came in to tell them that they wanted to take Jonathan in for a brain biopsy to see if the mass in his brain was cancer or inflammation. They could only give a 50-50 chance on it being one or the other. Not something you want to do on the anniversary or Christmas season. So his Mama was just really broken yesterday and just didn't know what else to do and I guess it was meant to be with Koen being in the hospital this week for me to be able to remind her who is Mighty to change situations, GOD! She just really felt in her heart that it wasn't cancer and just didn't have a peace about agreeing to it. So with prayer and remembering to Believe and Trust that there is a God and he is on are side. The situation was changed and the doctors decided to give Jonathan more time to heal before doing anything further and they also all get to go home today and spend Christmas together. I left the hospital yesterday just broken myself and just so sad. But when I got a call from Elizabeth (Jonathan's Mama) to tell me Thank you for being her Angel today it meant so much. I literally had goosebumps....the power of God is just SO amazing and to be apart of it was even more amazing! I really believe in my heart that Jonathan will be healed and cancer free.

I hope you all feel as Blessed this Christmas season as Jonathan and our family does to be able to celebrate the real reason of Christmas with our families. May you all have a Blessed Christmas and a Wonderful New Year! God Bless!

Brave

Today has been a good day! I am in shock at how well Koen has handled this last round of chemo. He's only thrown up three times and the last time was more because we had to put his NG tube in. He always seems to AMAZE us! We only have 2 more weeks of once a week clinic appointments one on the 18th and one on the 24th and he is done and will be in remission. What a Christmas present!!
So Brave!! When we put Koen in his bed last night he opened his eyes and said, "Daddy I'm brave." It was so cute! We are always telling him how good he is doing, how brave, how strong, and awesome, etc. Normally he gets mad and screams at us "No" weird! Even though at times you think he doesn't like to be told that, deep down it is good for him to hear it. All of you would be shocked if you saw how brave this little boy has been. He's truly amazing! I am SO proud of him!
Thank you for all of your prayers! Keep them coming. Now instead of having the fear of this nasty cancer being in our son we have the fear of it returning.
Isaiah 41:10 So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.

Round 6 is a GO!

Koen is starting round 6 today....the FINAL round! His counts were 463 on Monday and they were 1400 today. Hopefully this will be his last hospital stay for a long time! He has been such a trooper. This has had to seem like an eternity for him! As you know at the start of each round he is admitted for 2.5 days for the strong dose of cisplatin. This medicine always makes him sick. Please pray for him to be able to handle this last round well. We will be SO thankful to celebrate the holidays with Koen having completed his treatments and in remission! Thanks for your support!

Counts!

Koen's counts were low on Monday "463" and then he came down with whatever it was that his brother Gavin had early Tuesday morning. Throwing up, tummy pain, diarrhea, fever just downright sick! Thank goodness it only lasted about 24 hours, but I am worried it probably caused his counts to drop even more. He was supposed to start his finally round of chemo on Thursday. We are going to go ahead and push them back to Friday and pray his counts climb back up fast. If they don't I think I am going to ask the doctor is we can just wait until after the Holidays to start round 6. This way he can have a GREAT Christmas without being sick and feeling crummy. Please pray that either his counts will be back up by Friday or if not that the doctor's will be okay with waiting to start round 6. Please also say a prayer for all this sickness that has been running through our home to go away and stay away! I've totally ran out of energy and don't know how much more I can take! Thanks for your prayers! I believe this will all get figured out and we'll start round 6 when the time is right. Thanks again!
